LEADERSHIP CARES GOLF CLASSIC PRESS RELEASE 2007 BUSINESS LEADERS TURN OUT TO HELP RAISE FUNDS TO DEVELOP CARING TEEN LEADERS AND TO SUPPORT OUTREACH PROGRAMS IN MENTORING, LITERACY TRAINING AND HUNGER RELIEF. Gaithersburg MD October 9th, 2007. The 6th annual LeadershipCares™ Golf Classic was held at P.B. Dye Golf Club in Ijamsville Maryland on October 8th 2007. The event was held to support leadership training for local teenagers and to operate the three LeadershipCares™ outreach programs in mentoring, literacy training and hunger relief. Leaders from many national organizations turned out to support this annual event. Their support and participation will allow LeadershipCares™ to operate the MentorCares™ program for the school year, increase its’ LiteracyCares™ outreach in the D.C. area and to feed over 900 families as part of the 2007 ThanksgivingCares™ program. Participants received a golfer goodie bag containing an official LeadershipCares™ golf shirt, golf towel, golf balls, coupons for free appetizers from Glory Days Grill and a variety of other items including donated Microsoft software, DVDs and snacks to enjoy along the course. Teams representing local and national organizations played 18 holes and then enjoyed a networking buffet luncheon and awards presentation. Organizations that supported and attended this year’s event included Gold Sponsors-Microsoft Inc. and SAP Global Marketing Inc. Also supporting the event were Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America, Ford Motor Company, The Palmetto Group, Ernst & Young, Tongour, Simpson, and Holsclaw LLC, Parry Romani, DeConcini and Symms, Norbeck Country Club and Covington and Burling. Sponsorships and great prizes were provided by Microsoft Inc., SAP Global Marketing Inc., Michael Sternberg of Harry’s Tap Room, The Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington, Glory Day’s Grill, Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant Group Inc., Rockland’s BBQ and Grill, Clyde’s Restaurant Group, Mie N Yu Restaurant and Stam Promotional Marketing Inc., and Bryan Huus from Capitol Hill Golf generously sponsored free introductory golf lessons to all the participants! Teams and individual competition included the top three teams, closest to the pin, straightest drive and the best putt.
