For Immediate ReleaseLocal Students Celebrate Their Reading Success Hyattsville MD March 19th, 2009 Students from Rosa Parks Elementary and their reading mentors from Northwestern High School will celebrate their tutoring success at a special event this Saturday March 21st, 2009. The tutoring session and celebration event will run from 9:00am to 11:30am at Rosa Parks Elementary School located at 6111 Ager Road Hyattsville MD 20782.The exciting program will include reflections by the mentoring high school students about their experiences and what they learned about themselves by working with the elementary students. Also included will be a video presentation about their work shown by Anisha Davis, a student that helped to create the tutoring and mentoring program.Young K-2 students, their parents and teachers will share their experiences as part of the special celebration event.All students will be recognized for their hard work and accomplishments. The elementary students will receive a certificate along with a very cool goody bag!A Progress and Success Report will be presented by Ms. Karen Matthews the Reading Specialist at Rosa Parks and Ms. Gertrude Ledwell the MentorCares Coordinator and teacher at Northwestern High School.
Words of encouragement for all the
participants will be provided by Mrs. Tracy Adesegun the Principal of
Rosa Parks Elementary.
